Mission

The Clean Energy and Sustainable Development (CleanED) lab is an international and interdisciplinary research team contributing to the green growth of the energy sector in Vietnam. Established in December 2014 with support from USTH and French Embassy, the CleanED lab hosts today five researchers from France and Vietnam, five doctoral fellows and one internationally qualified staff under the direction of Dr. Minh Ha-Duong.

Our expertise ranges from engineering to public policy on:

- Natural resources characterization and management
- Biomass and waste to energy conversion process technologies
- Energy systems optimization from smart grid to national plans

The CleanED lab is a working place for researchers, doctoral fellows and students from USTH's Energy department in Hanoi. We welcome Bachelor and Master level interns. Most are coming from or going to our partner laboratories in France: CIRED/CNRS, BioWooEB/CIRAD, LAGEP/Université de Lyon, LABEX ARBRE/Université de Lorraine, LOG/Université du Littoral, G2ELab/UJF, other USTH consortium members, and our partner institute in Vietnam: IES/VAST.

Ongoing research projects

Garage Photovoltaïque au Lycée Winner of the AUF - Universitaire grant at the Innov'Ecolo 2016 competition.  The Principal Investigator: Dr. Nguyen-Xuan Truong at CleanED and Dang Hoang-Anh from Hanoi University of Industry Institute of Technology for more information. Objectif labos 2015 This mobility support for incoming French and international researchers is granted by the French Embassy in Hanoi.  The Principal Investigator: Minh Ha-Duong or Laurent van de Steene at CleanED for more information. ExpanGas
This project on Expanding biomass range in small gasifiers for decentralised energy production is supported by USTH, in collaboration with HUST and CIRAD. It runs for two years from 2016-01-01.  The Principal Investigator: Laurent van de Steene at CleanED. MSGBEM This project on Micro Smart Grid Development and Application for Building Energy Management is supported by USTH, in collaboration with UJF, Grenoble University. It runs for two years and was launched on 2016-0311.  The Principal Investigator: Benoit Delinchant at the G2Elab.

Completed research projects

Fablabs Vietnam 2015 In 2015, we incubated the creation of the USTH Technology Club and hosted joint community development workshops with Fablab Hanoi, both at our facilites. This was in the framework of a national consortium led by Fablab Saigon and supported by IPP. Objectif labos 2014 In 2014, establishment of the lab was permitted by a generous grant from the French Embassy in Hanoi. The final report of this project is also the first year activity report of CleanED.
