(Petrotimes) - On 24/1/2013, Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group, Petrovietnam Power Corporation (PV Power) held the inauguration ceremony of  Phu Quy Wind Power Plant. The project is located in Long Hai and Ngu Phung communes, Phu Quy island district, Binh Thuan province.

Attending the inauguration were Mr. Nguyen Quoc Khanh, Deputy General Director of Petro Vietnam power Coporation, Mr. Vu Huy Quang, General Director of  Vietnam National Oil and Gas group, Mr. Cuong Pham, director of Energy Company Limited Oil and Gas Renewable Electricity Vietnam, Mr. Pham Trong Thuc, Director of  Renewable Energy - Ministry of  Industry and Trade and leaders of professional committee of the Group; OceanBank Bank; Phu Quy island district leadership , ect.

Phu Quy Wind Power Plant with a capacity of  6MW, including 3 cylinder turbines. They are each 60m high having 3 blades which are each 37m long  to catch the wind and the diameter of  rotary fan is 75m.

The average power of a wind turbine generates 2KW electricity. The tower each weighs about 175,rotor weighs 6 tons, of which the turbine itself weighs 60 tons.

In term of the performance,  the average wind speed of 6.7 m/s at Phu Quy island is ideal for the turned turbine blades . While the rotor wind turbines of wind power are able to turn with the wind speed of 3-4m/s, and able to  generate electricity.

This is the first wind power project in Vietnam using mixed-operation models Wind - Diesel, which was constructed in late 2010. Plant in operation will provide an annual average of about 25.4 million kWh.

The project has a total investment of 335 billion VND by the Petrovietnam Power Renewable Energy Limited Company(PV Power RE) as an investor. 3 contractors include: Vietnam Electronics and Informatics Corporation company (VEIC), Viettronics engineering joint stock company VNC) and AMEC Technology Corporation construct.

On behalf of the Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group , deputy general director Nguyen Quoc Khanh praised the enormous efforts of the leadership team, staffs, engineers and workers in RE Power PV in plant construction.

Deputy General Director Nguyen Quoc Khanh also thanked the help of the leaders of  Binh Thuan province and Phu Quy district has created favorable conditions for the construction of the plant. Furthermore, he affirmed the success of Wind Power Plant Project Phu Quy has brought  a lot of other strategic significance for the country's economic development, maintaining national security, marine and island sovereignty.

After this project, PV Power in general and PV Power RE in particular will continue to implement the next clean energy projects toward the new power development in Vietnam territory .
