THE ONLINE SEMINAR WITH A GROUP OF MASTER TRAINERS: COMMUNICATION AND IMPLEMENTATION OF SUSTAINABLE ENERGY MODELS TO SUPPORT PEOPLE IN LAO CAI, QUANG NAM, DONG NAI, LAM DONG.

On May 12th, 2020, Green Innovation and Development Centre (GreenID) held the online seminar with a group of master trainers in Lao Cai, Quang Nam, Dong Nai, Lam Dong.

The seminar lasted for 2 hours with 8 master trainers in Lao Cai, Quang Nam, Dong Nai, Lam Dong provinces, and the program and project management team at GreenID. The seminar aimed at enhancing the capacity of community lecturers to ensure the successful implementation of raising awareness, changing behaviors, promoting sustainable energy initiatives in the localities.

In this seminar, the master trainers shared lessons, experiences, and difficulties in the implementation process of the project. Typically, they are experiences of preparing for an effective community communication session. The lecturers also shared the sustainable energy models like portable LEDs, improved cookstoves, rooftop solar PV that are attracting the attention of people and local authorities. However, difficulties of the areas (area, ethnic minorities, people’s living habits,…) also had a great influence on the implementation of the models.

Trainer Le Quang Dao and Nguyen Thi Kieu Giang in Lao Cai also said that in many areas, because people hadn’t yet seen the models directly, they didn’t boldly change. Two trainers proposed to build an improved cooking stove to model for people to experience how to use and know more about the benefits of this kind of stove: smoke-free, fuel-saving, easy to build, use, and very safe.

Also in this seminar, the master trainers presented the proposed models of using energy economically and effectively in the locality. Specifically:

- In Lao Cai, the project “Lighting up the village roads” with 40 solar light posts in Lung Pau and Seo Tung villages, Tung Chung Pho Commune, Muong Khuong District, Lao Cai Province.

- In Quang Nam: the project “Safe and economical LEDs for people in Co Tu, Quang Nam”.

- In Lam Dong and Dong Nai: the project “Lighting up” – installing 44 solar battery systems to supply poor households without electricity (battery charged system for night lighting) in Da Quyn Commune, Vinh Cuu District, Dong Nai Province, and Ma Da Commune, Duc Trong District, Lam Dong Province.

After listening to the recommendations of a group of master trainers. On behalf of GreenID, Mr. Cao Van Ha – The program director of GreenID welcomed the proposals and agreed to implement them in the localities. The Directors will consider allocating funds so that the projects can be implemented in May and June 2020.

With the meaningful projects which directly serve the interests of the communities, GreenID believes that the master trainers will effectively implement the activities, bring the highest efficiency, spreading the sustainable energy models to many areas in Vietnam.
