Project Title: Promoting Participatory and Community - led Energy Planning Approach in Nam Dinh province, Red river Delta in Vietnam - Phase 2: From planning to implementing local energy plan in Hai Ly and Hai Chinh communes, Hai Hau district

Objective of the project:

This second year project is a part of our three year program aiming to demonstrate the participatory and community led energy planning approach in the Red River Delta region, which then contributes to more efficient use of local energy and resources as well as create reliable inputs for energy planning at higher levels. In 2014, the project will focus on the following two objectives:

  • Empower local partners to lead the implementation of developed local energy plans in Hai Ly and Hai Chinh communes, Hai Hau district, Nam Dinh province.
  • Increase knowledge and practices for residents in Hai Ly and Hai Chinh commune, Hai Hau district, Nam Dinh province on sustainable energy solutions and green action

Key activities:

1. Objective 1: Empower local partners to lead the implementation of developed local energy plans in Hai Ly and Hai Chinh communes, Hai Hau district, Nam Dinh province

  • Training for NCCD staff and local energy team on behavior change communication campaign running skills
  • Enhancing knowledge and practices about sustainable energy solutions for LET members, local authorities, officials and NCCD staff
  • Compile & publish communication papers
  • Research on application of suitable renewable energy solutions to promote cleaner production for coastal community
  • Study on financing mechanism for application of sustainable energy solutions  at community level

2. Objective 2: Increase knowledge and practices for residents in Hai Ly and Hai Chinh commune, Hai Hau district on sustainable energy solutions and green action

  • Organise training workshop for women leaders at village level on sustainable energy solutions and waste management and treatment in Nam Dinh city
  • Carry out communication campaign combined with traditional culture performances to increase villagers knowledge, information about their energy status, challenges, sustainable energy solutions and waste treatment
  • Conduct workshop for households who are doing aquaculture to discuss on application of green solutions for waste treatment and sustainable production
  • Organize one two day- exhibition on sustainable energy solutions in Hai Ly commune
  • Hold one day sharing workshop on project results with district and provincial authorities and stakeholders in Nam Dinh city
