Project Title: Economic, social and environmental impacts of Dutch companies’ investment on Vietnam development works

Objectives of the project:

Overall objective: Assess economic, social and environmental impact of of Dutch companies’ investment on Vietnam development works

Specific Objectives:

  • Assess that Dutch investments respect at the minimum internationally accepted policies and standards on environmental, social and human rights.
  • Contribute to  the respecting and implementation of effective national  legal and democratic decision-making frameworks.
  • Document the operations and economic, social and environmental impacts of one or more Dutch companies operating in (infrastructural) development works within Vietnam, e.g. specifically in the water and the food & agribusiness sector.

Activities:

  • Desk study: the first step of the study will be for the key researcher and team members to review all relevant documents
  • Doing fieldtrip: 

- The research team will interview different stakeholders in Dak Lak and Thanh Hoa provinces; local authorities in order to collect their opinions, comments and recommendations on the research findings.

- Focus group interviews: The participation of local people will take a vital role to provide accurate information from the side of people directly affected.

  • Expert review: The first draft report then will be reviewed by the expert in order to draw on the knowledge and experience from the research team member from the respective organizations.
  • Sharing workshop: The second draft report will be shared and consulted with key stakeholders. The aim of this workshop is also a way of delivering our key findings and messages to relevant stakeholders
