Project title: Balancing the Scales - Gender Justice in Hydropower

Objectives:

Objective 1 - To research the involvement of women and their status in the planning, managing and assessing of hydropower developments/investments in the Mekong River Basin.

Objective 2: To create dialogue spaces that will explore the ways in which gender can be incorporated into hydropower planning, management and assessment.

Core activities and outputs:

  1. Support the review of national legislations and policy and provide expert comments on national legislation and policy analysis, and participate in e-workshops.
  2.  Provide expert comments on the draft gender manual before disseminating it in country workshops.
  3. Organize a national workshop and have key participants from Government Departments, Private Sector and CSOs.
  4. Document all the feedback and comments received during the national consultation workshop.
  5. Document positive and/or negative experience/evidence on gender mainstreaming and hydropower in your country; which will be used for blogs/website or other outputs for the project. (Oxfam is keen to consider how this documentation can be used by the partner in their own work and communications so that it is immediately accessible in English and non-English contexts).
  6. In consultation with Oxfam, participate in key CPWF forums.

Project duration: 28th June 2013 and end on 31st December 2013
