Project introduction
Renewable Energy Development and Energy Efficiency is not only an important solution in addressing global climate change, but also provides socio-economic benefits such as access to cheap energy, clean air and jobs. In Viet Nam, most of these benefits and impacts have not been properly researched and evaluated. In this context, the Institute for Advanced Sustainability Studies (IASS) – based in Potsdam, Germany – conducts the project "Mobilizing the Co-Benefits of Renewable Energy Development and Climate Change Mitigation in Vietnam" (COBENEFITS) in partnership with the Independent Institute for Environmental Issues (UfU), Renewables Academy (renac) and International Energy Transition (IET) and together with partners in Vietnam.
COBENEFITS is a bilateral cooperation project between the Government of Vietnam and the Federal Republic of Germany and funded by the International Climate Initiative (IKI) of the German Government.
In addition to Vietnam, the project is also being implemented in three other countries, including India, South Africa and Turkey, with the expectation of developing a strong network to overcome different barriers to enable renewable energy development and climate change mitigation in the world.

Project title: "Mobilizing the Co-Benefits of Renewable Energy Development and Climate Change Mitigation in Vietnam" (COBENEFITS)
Project stakeholders:
The Institute for Advanced Sustainability Studies (IASS) is the coordinator of this project. Green Innovation and Development Centre (GreenID) is the knowledge partner in Vietnam. In addition, the Independent Institute for Environmental Issues (UfU), International Energy Transition (IET) and the Renewables Academy (RENAC) are also project partners. The project is part of the International Climate Initiative (IKI). The German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety (BMUB) supports this initiative on the basis of a decision adopted by the German Bundestag.
Main activities and timing of the project:
