On August 23, 2017, a roundtable discussion on the socio-economic co-benefits of renewable energies in Vietnam was held to launch the project’s chain of operations.

Project members of the IASS, UfU and GreenID met with representatives of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, The Ministry of Planning and Investment, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, and representatives of agencies working on renewable energy and climate change in Vietnam. In addition, the roundtable also welcomed Mr. Joerg Rueger, First Secretary of the German Embassy in Hanoi in charge of environmental issues. The delegates had a lively discussion on the main topics and priorities of each sector related to electricity production in Vietnam and provided comments on the potential benefits of renewable energy development in ensuring social welfare and national economic interests.

Mr. Joerg Rueger, Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Hanoi, talked about the potential benefits of the project for Vietnam.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh Hien, Department of Science, Education, Natural Resources and Environment - Ministry of Planning and Investment, talked about the plans to implement a green growth strategy in Vietnam.

Mr. La Hong Ky, National Steering Committee for Power Development - Ministry of Industry and Trade, presented the benefits of renewable energy in completing rural electrification goals.

The project team together with representatives of different ministries in Vietnam.

            Contributions from the representatives of different ministries have contributed to ensuring that the themes and activities of the project will contribute to the achievement of the objectives and strategies of Vietnam.
