Tuesday, 13 June 2017 About 50 representatives from the European Union (EU), EU state members and civil society organisations (CSOs) took part at “EU Grant beneficiaries Forum 2017” held at the Centre for Woman and Development, 20 Thuy Khe, Tay Ho, Ha Noi.

Organised by the EU, the event was an opportunity for the EU grant beneficiaries to present the progress and implementation of their projects and for all participant to discuss and exchange on EU’s engagement with CSO in Vietnam. Participants also reflected on future collaboration and partnership between EU and CSO in Vietnam during the one day meeting.

Green Innovation and Development Centre (GreenID) was present at the meeting. As it is among six CSOs awarded EU funding to implement a four-year project “Civil society meets renewable energy (RE) and energy efficiency (EE) (E-Enhance)” following last year’s call for proposal.. The overall objective of this project is foster RE and EE development in Vietnam through capacity building for CSOs and local champions  in order to improve energy access and living conditions of Vietnamese citizens. This objective is in line  with one of the EU's key priorities of contributing to a more sustainable energy sector by promoting efficient, clean and RE available to all citizens in Vietnam.

Along with GreenID, other representatives from Oxfam, Care International, ActionAid, Institute for European Studies and CSDH shared and updated the progress and implementation of the EU newly funded projects. In this session, GreenID shared as to how its project will contribute to promote sustainable energy in Vietnam through capacity building, communication, application of RE or EE solutions in target communities and implementation of EE in target schools. EU Grant beneficiaries Forum 2017 is the second event of this kind, with the first one organised last year. This year event laid a foundation for more effective and cooperative partnership between the EU and CSOs.
