From 23rd to 29th October 2016, Green Innovation and Development Centre (GreenID) in collaboration with Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of An Giang province held a study tour in Thailand on renewable energy development and planning model with the participation of project management in An Giang.

Activities within the framework of the project: “Enhancing accesses to energy for the poor in Mekong Delta, Vietnam through applying green energy and sustainable solution” with the financial support from the organization of Bread for the World by Green Innovation and Development Centre (GreenID) in collaboration with local partners conducted in Tinh Bien district, An Giang province, period from 2016-2018.

The main objective of the study tour aims to enhance the exchange and share experiences between Vietnam and partners in the region of Thailand on the work plan with the participation and applying renewable energy and green solution toward rural sustainable development. Thereby promoting the use of renewable energy in Vietnam and the Mekong Delta, the successful implementation of the project “An Giang Green Energy”. Participating in the delegation include project management in province, district, commune, representatives of Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, An Giang, People’s Committee of Tinh Bien and Green Innovative and Development Centre (GreenID).

During the study tour in Thailand, the delegation has a chance to visit renewable energy model currently applied in community, such as solar energy, community biogas, small hydro, organic agriculture production combined community ecotourism. Team members in the delegation also exchanged and shared experience on renewable energy development as well as building support policy, promoting renewable energy development with partners attended the international workshop on renewable energy at community level organized by Chiang Mai University with the participation of representatives of scientists, researchers, communities from Japan, Thailand, Vietnam.

Each member has gained an insight into renewable energy solutions after finishing the trip, thereby learned experiences and valuable lessons during the time visiting the actual model. Hope this knowledge will help the Board of management has a practical look on renewable energy which aims to apply the model effectively and suitable for each region in the near future.
