Workshop online: Never too young to be a Green Leader (Part 2: Debate)

  |   Author : GreenID

On the morning of August 7th, the second webinar “Never too young to be a Green Leader” attracted the participation of nearly 150 students, parents and teachers from many schools in Hanoi.

With the view to helping students apply the practical lessons, inspirational sharing of American Green Leaders at the first part of Children's Forum 2020, all future green leaders were extremely excited to participate in the Debate Competition.

There are 2 statements:

1. Electric bicycle is the most optimal solution to protect the environment.

2. Vietnam has “golden forests”, “silver seas”, fertile land, and still has great potential for mineral exploitation to generate electricity.

Students all excitedly and confidently shared their opinions with clear and convincing evidence showing their potential to become Green Leaders in the future. Especially, there were conflicting opinions which made the argument more intense but still respectful and well-posed.

It was from the debate that Vietnamese students had a chance to show their talent and potential. We can’t deny that students now have not only confidence but also practical skills and knowledge more than what they had studied at school. Students are actively learning, showing their concern about the environmental issues, energy-saving and climate change.

At the end of the debate, the jury selected the top 11 most excellent students who were rewarded honored titles and meaningful gifts.

The “Finding Clean Air and Green Energy” competition also received the enthusiastic participation of students. The questions were more difficult than previous sessions creating some challenges for them; however, with critical thinking and quick mind, 8 excellent students received lovely gifts from GreenID.

The Forum ended with the praise from parents and teachers. The future Green Leaders all feel extremely excited looking forward to participating in the next activities to share and express their views on environmental issues. Thanks to the concern of schools, teachers, parents, guests and especially the Green Leaders, Children's Forum 2020 was successfully held. GreenID believes that we will have the opportunity to meet face to face when the Covid-19 is getting better or in the next webinar.

This activity is part of the project "Civil society meets RE&EE: training, seminar and communication skills to boost RE&EE as a key tool for sustainable development and green growth strategy in Vietnam (E-Enhance)", funded by the EU.
